Indirect Tax Manager

We are looking for an experienced Indirect Tax Manager to join Blue Water Shipping and strengthen our global tax function. In this role, you will be responsible for managing indirect tax matters across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring compliance while supporting the business with practical and value-adding solutions in a dynamic and operational environment.

Your key responsibilities

As Indirect Tax Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring tax compliance and advising senior management on tax-related risks. Your main responsibilities will include:

• Take ownership of VAT and indirect tax compliance across the group, ensuring accurate and timely    reporting to both Danish and foreign tax authorities.
• Oversee and review VAT returns and related reporting processes, ensuring consistency, quality and adherence to deadlines across all relevant entities.
• Act as a trusted advisor to business units and finance teams, providing practical and commercially minded guidance on indirect tax matters in day-to-day operations and projects.
• Drive and maintain robust processes for indirect tax, ensuring efficient, scalable and well-documented workflows across the organisation.
• Ensure correct VAT setup in ERP systems, including maintenance, updates and continuous improvements to support accurate tax handling in transactions.
• Monitor and assess changes in indirect tax regulations and ensure timely implementation across systems, processes and the organisation.
• Develop and deliver training to finance teams and relevant stakeholders to strengthen understanding of indirect tax requirements and ensure consistent and correct execution across the organisation.
• Identify, assess and mitigate indirect tax risks, including strengthening internal controls and ensuring audit readiness.
• Maintain clear and robust documentation of VAT positions, processes and decisions, and act as key point of contact during audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
• Support the business in handling complex international transactions, including invoicing processes, operational workflows and cross-border transactions, all with significant multi-jurisdictional VAT implications.
• Work closely with the wider tax function on alignment, knowledge sharing and ensuring a consistent approach to indirect tax across the group.

At the same time, you enjoy collaborating closely with the business and building strong relationships with colleagues across functions and geographies.

• Experience with indirect tax from an international company, audit firm or Skattestyrelsen
• Relevant educational background within tax, accounting, finance or similar
• Strong Excel skills and a solid understanding of working with data and systems
• Fluency in English, both written and spoken
• Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with stakeholders across the organisation
• A team-oriented mindset combined with a willingness to contribute to a positive, informal working culture – with room for both professionalism and humour
